Forklift Operator Responsibilities

As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for safely unloading incoming shipments and organizing products in designated storage areas. You will utilize various equipment, including Sit Down Forklifts, manual pallet jacks, and Electric Pallet Trucks, to handle lumber products of diverse materials and sizes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and load products for shipment, ensuring accuracy in quantity and type using forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Perform manual loading and unloading of products as needed.
  • Efficiently transport products from staging or storage areas to trailers or rail cars.
  • Utilize forklifts and other powered equipment to load, unload, move, stack, and stage materials.
  • Report any maintenance needs for equipment to Warehouse Management prior to operation.
  • Operate all machinery safely and in accordance with established work methods.
  • Assist with physical inventory counts when required.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the warehouse and perform routine housekeeping tasks.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Forklift training and certification may be necessary.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to follow simple instructions with common sense understanding.
  • Capability to multitask effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and surroundings.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Positive attitude and approach to work.
Work Environment

This position requires regular use of hands for handling and maneuvering materials. Employees will be expected to stand, walk, and occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch. The role involves lifting and moving items up to 50 pounds and may expose employees to moving mechanical parts and varying weather conditions.
