About the Role

Air Liquide is seeking a highly skilled Senior Plant Engineer to join our team in Houston, Texas. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our industrial gas production facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engineering and Operations: Own the engineering and operations effort to provide safe, reliable, quality, cost-effective products to our customers.
  • Plant Operations: Support safe and reliable operation and maintenance of the Cogen and Utilities Plants, including IMS requirements, Responsible Care, improvement programs, and development of the skills/competencies of personnel.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Support Plant Manager in operating the facility in compliance with all governmental regulations and Air Liquide policies.
  • Safety and Security: Work to achieve Zero Accidents by taking a leadership role in safety. Meet or exceed company safety and security standards.
  • Change Management: Strictly adhere to Management of Change procedure, performing engineering design and analysis of changes, and involving external resources as needed.
  • Audits and Investigations: Support internal and external audits and participate in the investigation of all incidents and drive corrective actions to completion.
  • Process Improvement: Develop, implement, and improve standard operating procedures in operations and maintenance, and work effectively with maintenance personnel to execute/improve predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Cost Reduction: Identify and drive efficiency improvements in operations and identify opportunities to reduce costs.
  • Knowledge Management: Maintain key operating design documents, red-line as needed when MOCs are approved, and work with document control to ensure updates are accurate.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor degree in Engineering required (Mechanical or Chemical discipline preferred).
  • Experience: 4+ years of applicable experience in project engineering or operations in industrial gas or petrochemical industry.
  • Skills: Demonstrated ability to work with diverse teams and achieve results, familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants, including Process Safety Management, PSM, OSHA regulations, EPA/TCEQ regulations, Food Safety, state and local requirements.
  • Technical Skills: Technical and working understanding of cryogenic distillation used in the Air Separation process preferred, ability to use MS Office, ability to learn Air Liquide software systems.
  • Personal Qualities: Extremely organized and effective at time management, ability to read and red-line key operating documents, experience with operating DCS and PLC systems, displays mechanical, process, and electrical aptitude; ability to troubleshoot production problems.
