Position Overview:
CSPNJ, a dedicated nonprofit organization in the mental health sector, is seeking a full-time Housing Specialist to serve the southern region. This role is pivotal in coordinating housing information and referrals for placements within the designated area.

Key Responsibilities:
The Housing Specialist will:

  • Establish and nurture relationships with brokers, landlords, linkage agencies, referral sources, and government housing entities.
  • Provide essential technical support to the support services team regarding the identification and development of affordable housing opportunities.
  • Engage in direct face-to-face interactions with residents, dedicating 55% of time to this critical task.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure continuous support.

Employment Details:
Full-time | 40 hours per week | Benefit Eligible including 6 weeks PTO & 11 Holidays

Qualifications:
Applicants should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health discipline or a combination of education and relevant mental health experience.
  • Experience working with individuals facing mental health challenges and/or disabilities in a compassionate and professional manner.
  • Knowledge of real estate practices and familiarity with state and local housing regulations.
  • Strong communication skills, particularly in listening, mediation, and writing.
  • A detail-oriented approach to ensure compliance with file requirements and contracts.
  • A commitment to assisting others in need.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • A creative and adaptable mindset.
  • A valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Bilingual abilities are advantageous.
  • Certification as a Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner (C.P.R.P.) is a plus.
