Wildlife Management Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Wildlife Management Assistant to join our team at the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. As a Wildlife Management Assistant, you will perform beginning level technical work in a fishery, Wildlife Management Area (WMA), habitat management program or research program.
Responsibilities
Transport fish and wildlife throughout the state and release them into appropriate habitats.
Feed, water, and care for fish and wildlife while in the agency's care.
Perform maintenance work on equipment, facilities, and grounds.
Assist biologists and other professionals in the execution of their duties.
Interact with the public as assigned by the supervisor.
Learn to operate heavy and technical equipment, such as tractors and mowers.
Assist in the creation and/or restoration of terrestrial and aquatic habitats through environmentally accepted construction and development practices.
Assist in the identification and marking of boundaries of habitat and department-held lands.
Requirements
High school graduate.
No experience, training, or skills required.
Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather and exposure to insects, snakes, and other harmful animals.
Ability to bend, stoop, climb, crawl, and walk.
Working Conditions
A majority of the time may be spent working outside in inclement weather. Will be exposed to insects, snakes, and other harmful animals. Employees in this class will be required to operate various types of equipment used for general building maintenance and lawn maintenance.
