Key Responsibilities

The External Affairs Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Developing and executing a comprehensive external affairs strategy that elevates Arnold Ventures' profile and impact in the policymaking sphere.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including policymakers, their staff, administration officials, and external experts.
  • Managing meeting plans and event engagements for Arnold Ventures' leaders, ensuring seamless communication and coordination.
  • Crafting briefing materials for Arnold Ventures' Board members and leaders, providing clear and concise information on key policy priorities.
  • Representing Arnold Ventures at various events, conferences, and meetings, effectively communicating the organization's policy priorities and advocacy goals.
  • Monitoring legislative activity, staying up-to-date on legislative calendars, hearings schedules, and member press, to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborating across departments to develop materials, ensure consistent messaging, and identify strategic opportunities for Arnold Ventures.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as public policy, government relations, or a related discipline.
  • 4-6 years of experience in external affairs, government relations, legislative affairs, advocacy, federal campaigns, or political fundraising.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute external affairs strategies, build relationships with key stakeholders, and navigate complex policy landscapes.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse groups and voices, and communicate complex policy ideas effectively.
Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $95,000-$130,000, depending on experience. As an External Affairs Specialist at Arnold Ventures, you will also enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including 100% paid employee premiums, 20 days of paid time off, and a 9/80 schedule from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
