Job Overview

We are looking for a proficient CNC Machining Specialist to design and enhance computer numerical control (CNC) programs for multi-axis machining, specifically in the aerospace sector. This position entails establishing objectives for process enhancement, crafting detailed instructions and calculations for machinists, and ensuring compliance with 3D CAD design specifications. You will convert instructions into a computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) program, validate program precision, and implement modifications as needed. Familiarity with CGTech Vericut is a plus.

Position Type: Full-time, On-site, Monday - Friday from 6:00am to 2:30pm

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine CNC programs for multi-axis machining operations.
  • Analyze 3D CAD models and blueprints to guarantee program accuracy.
  • Utilize CAM software to produce programs for intricate components.
  • Determine programming parameters, including cutting paths, speeds, and feeds.
  • Conduct simulations to confirm program accuracy and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Validate G&M code using CGTech Vericut or Camplete.
  • Ensure compliance with machining safety standards.
  • Enhance manufacturing processes to minimize cycle and lead times.
  • Draft comprehensive machining instructions for machinists.
  • Offer technical support and training to machinists.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in CNC programming utilizing 2D/3D CAM/CAD software.
  • Experience with 5-axis milling, particularly with Matsuura MAM Systems, is advantageous.
  • Expertise in creating, modifying, and optimizing CNC programs using CAD/CAM software, G-code, and M-code.
  • Solid understanding of CNC programming languages and machining operations.
  • Advanced knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and solid models.
  • Proficient in Mastercam and/or GibbsCam; experience with Camplete or CGTech Vericut is beneficial.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in shop mathematics and mechanical understanding.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and MRP systems.
  • Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written, in English.
  • Strong attention to detail, dependability, and capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively.

Physical Requirements: The job primarily takes place in a climate-controlled office setting, with occasional exposure to a warehouse environment that may have varying temperatures and exposure to noise, vibrations, fumes, and chemicals.

  • Repetitive motion of wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Extended periods of sitting and walking.
  • Occasional bending, kneeling, reaching, standing, squatting, climbing, and crawling.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 20 pounds (and rarely up to 50 pounds).
