Job Summary:

Focused Staffing is seeking a skilled Guidance Counselor to join our team. As a Guidance Counselor, you will be responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate and prevention-oriented group activities to meet student educational, personal, social, occupational, placement and related problems in planning and adjustments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with teachers in studying, diagnosing, and understanding students; plan, conduct group guidance activities; utilize community resources; and participate in in-service education.
  • Develop and incorporate life skills that students need to be successful in the twenty-first century into their program.
  • Collaborate and work with administrative staff and other school personnel in planning, developing and conducting the total guidance program, curriculum study and research.
  • Accurately and appropriately use assessment procedures for determining and structuring individual and group counseling services. Provides appropriate and timely information to school personnel related to student needs.

  • Ensure decisions are based on data.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and openness to innovation in the performance of job-related duties.
  • Serve as a role model in how to conduct oneself as a citizen and as a responsible, intelligent human being.
  • Adhere to and enforce all laws, board policies, procedures and ethical standards of the school counseling profession.


The employee shall remain free from any alcohol or abuse of a non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout the duration of one's employment.

Education and Experience:

  • Master's Degree in Guidance & Counseling with School Counseling
  • Appropriate State of Ohio certifications/license
  • Experience working with children
