About the Position

Northern Kentucky University is seeking a highly qualified Professor of Practice/Director of Esports to lead the growth and development of the Esports academic program. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Esports, sports business, and/or digital media, with a proven track record of building partnerships, sponsorships, and fundraising.

Responsibilities
  • Teach up to 4 classes per year, with a focus on Esports-related courses
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key community and corporate partners to enhance the academic program
  • Lead the long-term strategic plan for the growth and continued development of the Esports academic program
  • Coordinate the development of marketing and communications materials for the Esports academic program
  • Recruit and retain students in the Esports academic program
  • Develop experiential learning and internship opportunities for students interested in pursuing careers in Esports
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership of the Varsity Esports teams
  • Maintain and strengthen NKU teams competing in six titles
  • Recruit and effectively manage coaches and gamers for varsity competition
  • Coordinate team travel, practice, and competition schedules
  • Develop and execute camps, clinics, and promotional events
  • Ensure team compliance with all leagues, conferences, and institutional rules and regulations
  • Assist in the fiduciary responsibilities of the Esports program, including scholarship and program budget
  • Supervise content, streaming, and production of the Esports streaming platform, as well as the NKU Esports website and Esports Gear store
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a field relevant to Sports Business and Esports
  • Two years or more of work experience in Esports, with a preference for the collegiate Esports setting
  • Proven success in building partnerships, sponsorships, and fundraising
  • Demonstrated management of sports/Esports facility, competitors, and staff
