Job Summary:

As a Respiratory Therapist PRN, you will provide pulmonary care services in accordance with physician orders, departmental policies, and procedures. You will administer respiratory therapy treatments, set up and monitor mechanical invasive and noninvasive ventilators, and perform airway management and tracheal suctioning.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer respiratory therapy treatments, including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and mechanical ventilation.
  • Set up and monitor mechanical invasive and noninvasive ventilators, including ventilator management and troubleshooting.
  • Perform airway management and tracheal suctioning, including endotracheal intubation and extubation.
  • Perform capillary and arterial punctures to obtain mixed venous or arterial blood gas analysis.
  • Work independently in all areas of critical care, including emergency department, intensive care unit, and step-down unit.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an AHA-approved respiratory therapy program or successfully passed the examination issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care leading to license, CRTT or LRT.
  • At least one year of previous respiratory experience, including critical and acute care.
  • Current respiratory license issued by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.
  • BLS required within 30 days of hire.
  • All other certifications due within 90 days of hire date, i.e., ACLS, PALS.
