Position Overview

This role is essential for maintaining a safe aquatic environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Effectively identify and respond to emergencies by implementing the Emergency Action Plan (EAP).
  • Maintain vigilant observation of individuals in the swimming area.
  • Communicate and uphold all aquatic policies and regulations in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Keep an accurate count of patrons during shifts.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of the pool, surrounding areas, and related equipment.
  • Document any incidents or injuries that occur.
  • Perform daily checks on safety equipment.
  • Participate in regular training sessions to enhance skills.
  • Foster a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.
  • Ensure a tidy and organized workspace.
  • Execute additional tasks as directed by the supervisor.
  • Deliver clear and concise information to patrons, staff, security, and emergency services as necessary.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Valid Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (Mandatory).
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED Certification (Mandatory).
  • Must be an enrolled student at La Sierra University.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in lifeguarding.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to respond to emergencies with swift movements and physical exertion, including assisting individuals in distress.
  • Must remain alert to potential hazards while sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods.
Work Schedule:
  • Part-time position: Approximately 15 hours per week, including Sundays.
Compensation: $17.00 per hour.

Note: All certifications must be current and not set to expire within three months of starting the position.
