We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our esteemed team as an Operating Room Technician.
Under the direct supervision of the Surgical Team Manager, the Operating Room Technician plays a crucial role in assisting surgeons during procedures, maintaining a sterile environment, and supporting the surgical team as needed.
This position operates from 7a-3:30p with flexible start times.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the surgeon in the scrub role.
- Prepare the operating room by scrubbing, gowning, and gloving according to established protocols.
- Set up the surgical table with necessary instruments and supplies.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon by providing instruments, sutures, and other materials.
- Prepare and drape the patient and surgical area appropriately.
- Maintain aseptic technique at all times.
- Conduct counts of instruments, sponges, and needles with the circulating registered nurse, reporting any discrepancies.
- Care for specimens properly.
- Assist in applying dressings and casts.
- Prepare instruments and equipment for decontamination following protocols.
- Support the maintenance of equipment to ensure proper function and safety.
- Participate in routine cleaning and other housekeeping tasks as directed.
- Assist the surgical team in a circulatory capacity under the guidance of a registered nurse.
- Help transport patients and manage preoperative tasks.
- Maintain inventory and stock supplies in the operating room.
- Be available for on-call responsibilities or arrange for coverage as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Engage in departmental training and continuing education programs.
Transitional Team Duties:
- Manage waste disposal in operating rooms and ensure cleanliness.
- Maintain hygiene of trash receptacles and linens.
- Clean and organize all furniture and surfaces in the operating room.
- Conduct routine cleaning of floors and equipment.
- Ensure proper sterilization and inventory of reusable medical equipment.
- Participate in safety and infection control training.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program.
- Certification as a Surgical Technician (CST) is preferred.
- Maintain relevant certifications and licensure.
- Adhere to departmental policies regarding attendance, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
Physical Requirements:
This role requires full body motion to assist and lift patients, along with manual dexterity and good coordination. The position involves extensive standing and walking, with the ability to exert varying levels of force to move objects.
