Ophthalmic Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CO Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at the Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins University. As a CO Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our physicians in delivering state-of-the-art eye care.
Key Responsibilities:- Record patient history, including chief complaint, ocular history, past surgeries, medical conditions, medications, allergies, learning assessment, falls risk, and family history.
- Perform various clinical tasks, such as checking pupil response to light, measuring central visual field, instilling eye drops, measuring and recording distance and near visual acuity, and performing Humphrey visual field testing.
- Assist with in-office procedures, maintain exam room supplies, and ensure medications do not expire.
- Provide non-clinical support, including handling Epic in-basket messages, processing refill requests, and assisting with prior authorizations.
- Collaborate with front desk staff to maximize patient flow and physician efficiency.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician.
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from JCAHPO within 18 months of start date.
- CPR certification.
- Prior experience in a clinical office setting as an Ophthalmic Technician.
