Job Summary

**Conduct Experimental Work and Develop Innovative Enzyme-Based Products**

Astrix is seeking a highly skilled Food Scientist to join their growing team. As a key member of the company, you will be responsible for conducting experimental work and developing innovative enzyme-based products to drive sales growth.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Contribute to the company's sales and profit through department activities.
  • Collaborate with customers to improve their product recipes and processes.
  • Carry out experimentation to implement at least two new innovative product application developments.
  • Prepare and provide scientific data to incorporate into promotional materials or webinars annually.
  • Conduct pilot plant trials within facilities, at co-packer, customer, or outside lab facilities.
  • Develop joint R&D projects with customers under guidelines and priorities developed by the President.
  • Oversee laboratory and report issues with instrumentation, equipment, and safety to supervisor.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance in laboratory.
  • Provide technical and analytical service to potential and existing customers to generate new business and maintain current business.
  • Submit call reports to the supervisor within 48 hours after visiting customers.
  • Submit monthly reports to the supervisor at the end of the month.
  • Be responsible for Food Safety and report any Food Safety-related issues to the direct supervisor and/or a member of the Food Safety Management Team.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

**Food Safety Reporting Responsibilities**

  • Be responsible for reporting all food safety problems or concerns to the proper personnel authorized to initiate action.

**Lab Skills**

Instrumental assay experience, such as with GC, HPLC, and spectrophotometer, is preferred.

**Education/Experience**

A Master's Degree in a food scientific discipline is required.
