At Scot Forge, a 130-year-old, fully employee-owned enterprise, we specialize in manufacturing custom open die and rolled ring forgings. We are establishing a state-of-the-art, high-volume, automated testing laboratory to facilitate the rapid assessment of new materials for defense applications. This role involves essential skills in troubleshooting, installing, building, calibrating, and tuning furnaces, alongside conducting repairs and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to combustion, electrical, mechanical, and other systems using various testing methods.
  • Follow quality protocols, customer requirements, industry standards, and guidance from supervisors and technicians.
  • Interpret and work with wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Install and modify equipment in compliance with relevant codes and specifications.
  • Conduct calibrations, testing, tuning, and preventive maintenance as outlined in specifications.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of tests and calibrations, preparing necessary reports.
  • Update testing procedures through manuals or digital systems.
  • Assist in the installation of new equipment and upgrades to existing systems.
  • Support the initiation of new equipment.
  • Accurately complete production timecards.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and testing schedules with production teams.
  • Communicate any production or equipment issues to relevant personnel.
  • Assist in the installation of refractories and the setup of dry-out processes.
  • Maintain certifications for forklift and crane operation.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and provide technical support for engineering projects.
Additional Information
  • This position requires being on call at least once a month.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and maintaining a clean work environment is mandatory.
  • Work under the supervision of the department head and may require flexibility to adapt to various roles as needed.
  • Follow all safety guidelines, including lockout/tagout and fall protection procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED, with completion of a craft apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred: 2-year Associate's degree or equivalent in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy industrial maintenance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Working Conditions

The work environment may expose employees to fumes, airborne particles, and mechanical vibrations. The role requires physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting items over 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, and color vision, along with depth perception.
