Job Summary

The Swim Instructor at the YMCA of the USA is responsible for maintaining a supportive and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals. This role provides direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for students in swim classes, while also developing and maintaining positive relationships with volunteers, members, and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and assist in the instruction of swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines.
  • Prepare lesson plans and support members and program participants in achieving their goals.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, members, and colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • Convey information on aquatics safety, maintenance, programs, and schedules to the Associate Director - Aquatics.
  • Refer program participants and families to other programs.
  • Maintain records as required (e.g., attendance, progress reports).
  • Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.
  • Participate in special events to promote programs and fundraising activities.
