We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist to join our Perioperative Team at Carle Health. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting our surgical teams in the operating room.
Key Responsibilities- Preparation and Setup: Prepare for surgeon-specific operative and invasive procedures, ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient setup of instruments, equipment, and suture. Maintain a sterile environment and ensure all necessary items are available.
- Scrubbing and Assisting: Scrub on simple to complex procedures for various specialties, demonstrating proficiency in surgical techniques and adapting to surgeon preferences. Collaborate with surgeons and other team members to ensure seamless execution of procedures.
- Communication and Teamwork: Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other team members to ensure clear understanding of patient needs and procedural requirements. Participate in quality improvement efforts and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Training and Development: Precept and mentor new staff members, including surgical technologists and registered nurses, to ensure they possess the necessary skills and knowledge for their roles.
- Education and Certification: Associate's degree in Surgical Technology or equivalent certification from an accredited program. Certified Surgical Tech (CST) certification required upon hire.
- Skills and Knowledge: Proficient in basic computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browsing. Multicultural sensitivity and critical thinking skills are essential for this role.
- Work Environment: Work may occasionally require travel to other UPH facilities/hospitals. Ability to drive a vehicle for business purposes is required.
