About the Role:

This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, utilizing your clinical and administrative skills to provide exceptional patient care. You will be working under the supervision of experienced healthcare professionals, including Dr. Raghav Sharma, who holds 8 board certifications and is fond of teaching and educating medical trainees and APPs.

Responsibilities:

1. Clinical Duties

  • Electrocardiograms (EKGs/ECGs): Perform and interpret EKGs to monitor the electrical activity of the heart. Prepare patients for the test by positioning electrodes and explaining the procedure.
  • Holter Monitoring: Set up and instruct patients on how to use Holter monitors, which continuously record heart rhythms over 24 to 48 hours. Ensure proper placement and functionality of the device.
  • Stress Tests: Assist with exercise or pharmacological stress tests. This includes preparing the patient, monitoring vital signs during the test, and ensuring patient safety throughout.
  • Blood Pressure Monitoring: Perform routine and specialized blood pressure checks, such as orthostatic blood pressure measurements, and monitor patients with hypertension.
  • Pacemaker Checks: Assist with pacemaker interrogations, where the functionality of the pacemaker is checked using a specialized device.
  • Patient Preparation for Cardiac Procedures: Prepare patients for more invasive cardiac procedures like echocardiograms, angiograms, or cardiac catheterizations by explaining the procedure and obtaining consent forms.

2. Administrative Duties

  • Scheduling Appointments: Schedule routine follow-ups, diagnostic tests, and specialist consultations. Coordinate with hospitals for procedures that require a surgical setting.
  • Patient Records Management: Update and maintain accurate patient records, including history of cardiac conditions, medications, test results, and treatment plans.
  • Referral Management: Manage referrals to and from other specialists, such as cardiovascular surgeons or electrophysiologists, and ensure that all relevant medical records are transferred.

3. Patient Interaction

  • Patient Education: Educate patients about heart health, medication adherence, lifestyle changes, and the importance of regular monitoring for conditions like hypertension and hyperlipidemia.
  • Follow-Up Care: Call patients to follow up on test results, monitor their progress after procedures, and remind them of upcoming appointments.

4. Specialized Equipment Management

  • Maintenance of Cardiology Equipment: Ensure that all cardiology-specific equipment, such as EKG machines, Holter monitors, and stress test treadmills, are functioning correctly and calibrated regularly.
  • Supply Management: Manage the inventory of supplies specific to cardiology, such as electrodes, leads, and other disposable items used during cardiac testing.

5. Coordination with Cardiology Team: Work closely with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care for cardiac patients.

  • Scheduling: Manage appointments and coordinate with hospitals.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.

  • Time Management: Balance clinical and administrative duties efficiently.
  • Inventory Management: Track and manage cardiology supplies.

  • Infection Control: Follow protocols for sterilization and safety.
  • HIPAA Compliance: Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Adhere to cardiology-specific regulations.
