Position Overview:

The Interventional Radiology Technologist plays a vital role within the Interventional Radiology (IR) team, collaborating closely with Interventional Radiologists and Registered Nurses to provide exceptional patient care throughout the interventional procedures.

This role requires proficiency in scrubbing, assisting, and documenting all interventional cases, as well as operating the necessary equipment within the IR lab.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Function in scrub and recorder capacities while supporting the circulator.
  • Ensure a safe practice environment by addressing patient needs.
  • Assist the Registered Nurse in gathering patient information, identifying priority issues, and documenting findings accurately.
  • Evaluate collected data and apply professional judgment to determine the most effective and economical methods for procedures.
  • Anticipate and adapt to the equipment and supply requirements of the interventional radiologist.
  • Educate patients, families, and healthcare providers regarding the procedures as necessary.
  • Demonstrate proper techniques for catheter and guidewire exchanges and operate power injectors.
  • Utilize fixed and mobile radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment, adjusting technical factors based on patient characteristics to achieve optimal imaging while minimizing radiation exposure.
  • Implement radiation protection measures, including the use of beam restrictors and patient shielding.
  • Manage inventory for vascular and interventional supplies, including catheters, guidewires, and procedure sets.

Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited Radiology Technology program or equivalent.
  • Certification and current registration as a radiographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Florida State License as a Certified Radiologic Technologist.
  • Preferred: Certification and current registration in Cardiovascular Interventional Radiographer (CV), Cardiac Interventional Radiographer (CI), or Vascular-Interventional Radiographer (VI) by the ARRT.
  • BLS certification within one year of hire.

Work Schedule:

This position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, with options for shifts from 7 am to 5:30 pm (four 10-hour shifts) or 7 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. On-call availability during weekdays and weekends is necessary.
