Job Overview

The internship will be conducted through Temp Associates, allowing interns to gain experience and skills while working on real-world projects. As a global leader in sports and large area lighting solutions, Musco believes in creating a fun and supportive work environment where employees can envision, create, refine, and guarantee the best lighting systems.

We are seeking a talented Materials Science or Chemical Engineering major to join our team as an intern. The successful candidate will conduct materials analysis using state-of-the-art tools and equipment, provide technical support for special processes affecting materials properties, and work cross-functionally with engineering, quality, product support, manufacturing, and procurement teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to overall solder reliability and experimental design concerning LED fixtures and drivers.
  • Investigate failed components, microstructures, and data using a scientific approach to continuously improve product performance.
  • Support effective root cause analyses and corrective action for materials issues.
  • Gain practical experience generating reports and communicating with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Acquire experience in lab safety and procedures utilizing sample preparation techniques and equipment such as a cross-sectioning saw and automatic polisher.
  • Gain experience working with a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and high-tech microscopes.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in Materials Science or Chemical Engineering.

  • A strong academic record with a focus on materials science and engineering.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-directed and able to work without supervision.
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas.

Estimated Salary: $60,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
