The Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the operational upkeep, service, and repair of assigned equipment. This position involves engaging in the preventative maintenance program, addressing guest requests, and managing various work orders as needed. The technician is expected to perform tasks safely and efficiently, including various trade jobs such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and more. Driving a shuttle van may be required depending on property specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the operational maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Replace light bulbs and conduct preventative maintenance for guest rooms, including vinyl repairs, touch-up painting, minor furniture repairs, tub caulking, and tile repairs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on ice machines, refrigerators, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, HVAC systems, guest rooms, meeting spaces, swimming pools, and hot tubs.
  • Conduct plumbing repairs, laundry equipment repairs, and preventative maintenance on all exhaust fans and supplies; monitor energy conservation efforts; repair vacuum cleaners and other small equipment as requested.
  • Respond promptly to any alarms to identify the exact location and cause; assess emergency status and report findings to the appropriate personnel.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a hotel or related field is preferred.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Licensure in a trade (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, etc.) is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license for the applicable state is mandatory.
  • An acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving Record (MVR) is required, specific to the property.
  • Completion of a one-year college or technical school program; or three to six months of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in carpentry, plumbing, mechanical repair, painting, and HVAC systems are preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail; monitor personal work to ensure quality and apply feedback for performance improvement.
  • Flexibility in response to change and adaptability to new methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of safety principles and federal and state OSHA regulations.
