Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Irrigation Specialist to join our team. As an Irrigation Specialist, you will be responsible for performing irrigation work at specific job sites, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards and in accordance with prescribed Jensen standards of landscape irrigation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform irrigation work at specific job sites, including installation, repair, and maintenance of irrigation systems.
• Work safely and efficiently, using proper tools and equipment for specific tasks.
• Read and understand irrigation plans, creating as-built drawings, site activity maps, irrigation diagnostics, and work orders as required.
• Repair and install various sprinkler systems and irrigation valves, and perform main line repairs up to and including 3" pipes.
• Position sprinklers appropriately and correctly in relation to grade, curbs, walls, and windows.
• Disassemble, troubleshoot, and repair solenoid operated irrigation control valves.
• Turn controllers on and off, manually operate a single station from the controller, and check irrigation programs on the controller.
• Install remote harnesses and perform work and use tools and equipment in a proper and safe manner.
• Accurately fill out and sign time cards with hours worked and work orders for each site/project for each day worked.
• Make a parts list for materials needed and report any injury or illness immediately to the Supervisor.
• Inspect equipment before use to ensure proper and safe operation and report problems to the Supervisor immediately.
• Report unsafe work conditions or practices to the Supervisor immediately.

Requirements:

• Knowledge of landscape and maintenance techniques, methods, and tools.
• Complete knowledge of irrigation wiring, wire trouble shooting, and wire fault locating.
• Pipe - Recognize and understand the applications and differences between class and schedule rated PVC pipe.
• Sprinkler and nozzle selection - Demonstrate the ability to select the proper sprinkler nozzle for a given area that is compatible with the equipment in use.
• Basic understanding of electrical and electronic circuitry, and demonstrate the ability to perform minor controller repairs.
• Ability to safely and properly use drills, jackhammers, trenchers, and tampers.
• Knowledge and understanding of water management issues such as budgeting, conversions, GMP, GPH, CCF, HCF, acres, feet.
• Understand the basics of distribution uniformity.
• Understand the basics of pipe sizing, G.P.M. flow rates, and velocity.
• Understand hydrozone issues sun/shade, plant, slope, soil structure.
• Understand and recognize types of soil and field capacity.
• Basic Computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to follow verbal instructions from supervisor and management.
• Ability to work with and assist crew members.
• Ability to deal courteously with the public.
• Proficiency of all Irrigation ID skills, knowledge, and equipment use.
• Advanced understanding of sprinkler positioning and adjustments.
• Recognition and understanding of the basic signs of plant stress.
• Maintain valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record.
• 3-5 years' experience in irrigation; or any equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience providing the knowledge, abilities, and skills cited above.
• Valid California Driver License with a clean DMV record is required.
• Must possess or become a Certified Irrigation Technician.
