Job Title: Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

Job Summary:

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team. As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures using computed tomography (CT) scanners. Your primary goal will be to provide high-quality images that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Position patients to obtain studies as prescribed by standard operating procedures.
  • Perform preparation to ensure the prompt commencement of procedures.
  • Ensure all necessary equipment is available prior to starting examinations.
  • Administer cleansing preps and contrast agents under the direction of a Radiologist.
  • Protect patients and personnel by administering proper radiation protection techniques.
  • Transfer and position patients for examinations to obtain desired radiographic results.
  • Assist physicians in the performance of examinations.
  • Maintain room and stock, secure and return supplies, and perform equipment maintenance recommendations and troubleshooting.
  • Responsible for patient scheduling and smooth flow of schedule and patient preparation, including contrast administration.
  • Responsible for quality control of CT examinations.
  • Use the computer system according to standard operating procedures.
  • Enter studies in RIS and HIS, track cases, split and fix studies in PACS as necessary, and perform related clerical tasks.
  • Cooperate with all hospital personnel in a positive and professional manner, maintaining ethical relationships.
  • Rotate shifts covering weekends and on-call, attend in-service training as required, and evaluate student performance.

Requirements:

  • Three years of hospital experience as a staff technologist preferred, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • State of New Jersey License and ARRT certification required.
  • CT certification obtained within 12-24 months of hire.
  • CPR certified or willing to obtain within six months of hire.
