Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team at Magnet Medical. This is a 12-week contract position in Cypress, Texas.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have expertise in operating computed tomography (CT) scanners to perform diagnostic imaging procedures for patients. They will be responsible for obtaining high-quality images of a patient's body, which will be used by physicians to diagnose conditions such as injuries, infections, cancers, and other abnormalities.

The successful candidate will ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the imaging process, prepare the equipment, and assist the healthcare team in obtaining diagnostic information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Preparation and Communication:
    • Prepare Patients for CT Scans: Ensure patients understand the procedure, answer any questions, and make them feel comfortable.
    • Verify Patient Information: Confirm medical history, allergies, and prior imaging to ensure accurate diagnosis and appropriate imaging protocols.
    • Position Patients Properly: Place patients on the CT table correctly to obtain the necessary images, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the process.
    • Instruct Patients: Tell patients how to hold their breath or remain still during scans, as required by the procedure.
  • Operation of CT Equipment:
    • Operate and Calibrate the CT Scanner: Ensure proper settings for each scan, including radiation dose, slice thickness, and imaging protocols.
    • Administer Contrast Agents: Give contrast agents or dye injections under physician or radiologist guidance to enhance image clarity during certain CT procedures.
    • Monitor Equipment During Imaging: Watch the equipment during imaging to ensure high-quality images are captured and no errors occur during the process.
  • Image Quality and Review:
    • Review CT Images: Check the quality of the images to ensure all required areas are captured and meet diagnostic standards.
    • Work with Radiologists: Collaborate with radiologists to ensure images are of sufficient quality to support diagnosis.
    • Repeat or Adjust Scans: Repeat or adjust scans as necessary to improve image quality or ensure comprehensive imaging coverage.
  • Patient Safety and Comfort:
    • Minimize Radiation Exposure: Follow safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients.
    • Maintain a Safe Environment: Keep the CT room sterile, safe, and clean, ensuring all equipment is sanitized between patients.
    • Ensure Proper Patient Positioning: Prevent risk of injury or discomfort during the scan, especially for vulnerable patients.
    • Monitor Patients: Watch patients for any adverse reactions to contrast agents and alert the physician or healthcare provider if necessary.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work with Healthcare Professionals: Collaborate with physicians, radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to determine the appropriate imaging procedures and assist in diagnosing medical conditions.
    • Document Patient Information: Record patient information, scan parameters, contrast media used, and any complications in the electronic health record (EHR).
    • Participate in Patient Care Planning: Discuss with the team how to best approach imaging in complex cases.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
    • Maintain and Clean Equipment: Keep the CT scanner and associated equipment functioning properly by performing routine maintenance and cleaning.
    • Troubleshoot Equipment Issues: Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions promptly to prevent delays in patient care.
    • Keep Accurate Logs: Record equipment use, maintenance, and repairs performed.
  • Radiation Safety and Compliance:
    • Follow Radiation Safety Protocols: Adhere to guidelines to protect patients and staff from radiation exposure.
    • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Meet healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, safety standards, and Joint Commission guidelines.
    • Stay Updated on Regulatory Changes: Stay current on changes to regulatory standards, including radiation safety, patient privacy, and procedural guidelines.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping:
    • Accurately Document Procedures: Record imaging procedures, patient information, and any adverse events or changes in patient status.
    • Ensure Compliance with Policies: Follow hospital or clinic policies, medical record-keeping regulations, and industry standards.
    • Assist with Patient Flow: Provide quick turnaround times for imaging results when needed.
  • Patient Education and Support:
    • Provide Patient Education: Inform patients about aftercare following contrast injections, potential side effects, and follow-up procedures.
    • Address Patient Concerns: Respond to patient worries about the procedure, offering support as necessary.
    • Maintain Patient Privacy and Dignity: Respect patient confidentiality and dignity throughout the imaging process.
  • Professional Development and Training:
    • Stay Current with Advances: Participate in continuing education to stay updated on advancements in CT imaging technology, protocols, and safety procedures.
    • Attend In-House Training Sessions: Attend training sessions and seminars on new imaging techniques or equipment.
    • Maintain Professional Certification: Maintain certification and licensure, including any continuing education requirements.

This role offers an estimated salary range of $120,000 - $150,000 per year, based on 36 hours per week and 12-hour shifts. The exact compensation package will be confirmed upon hire.
