Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled laborer with expertise in carpentry and safety to join our team on a local project in Boise. As a laborer with Layton Construction, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including structural construction, heavy concrete construction, demolition, and framing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion The Layton Way by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
  • Ensure Constructing with Integrity is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
  • Provide support to other craft workers on project sites.
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas.
  • Identify hazards associated with task assignments and ask questions when clarification is needed.
  • Load/unload materials as needed.
  • Have minimum tools associated with trade.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
Requirements
  • Performs essential duties and responsibilities efficiently, accurately, and safely.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and emails.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and emails.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to apply understanding to carrying out simple one-or-two step instructions.
  • Commits to and meets all scheduled attendance and production deadlines.
  • At least 18 years of age.
Working Conditions
  • Exerts in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move object.
  • Ascends or descends ladders, scaffolding, and steep slopes with agility.
  • Maintains body equilibrium to prevent falling from precarious situations.
  • Lowers the body to floor level and move about with agility.
  • Extends out and retrieves objects outside immediate range.
  • Supports oneself and stays in an upright position.
  • Presses against something with substantial steady force to thrust forward, downward, or outward.
  • Exerts a considerable force to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Raises substantial objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
  • Maneuvers small objects precisely by whatever means.
  • Seizes an object by applying considerable force.
  • Detects attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, texture, tension, or force by tactile means.
  • Expresses or exchanges ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Perceives the nature of sounds with no less than a 40db loss @ 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz, and 2,00 Hz with or without correction.
  • Is subject to substantial repetitive motions of the body or its parts.
  • Must have good depth perception, field of vision, near acuity.
  • Frequently: Exposed to weather (Occasionally: Extreme cold, extreme heat, wet and/or humid, exposure to dust and fumes, and working in high exposed places).
