Job Summary:

McWane, Inc. is seeking a skilled Utility Worker to join our team. As a Utility Worker, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to hydrant assembly, forklift operation, and painting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hydrant Assembly:
    • Prepare work by studying assembly instructions and gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
    • Position parts and components using work instructions.
    • Verify specifications by testing product and visually inspecting quality.
    • Assemble products using hand tools and other equipment.
    • Resolve verifiable assembly problems to meet specifications.
  • Forklift Operation:
    • Inspect forklift and complete inspection paperwork.
    • Clear traffic area of people, objects, and other forklift traffic.
    • Inspect loads to ensure they are secure for transport and accurate.
    • Transfer loads to designated locations throughout the facility.
  • Fuse Coat Painting:
    • Retrieve unpainted parts from storage.
    • Load parts onto chain conveyor.
    • Blow shavings/debris from unpainted parts.
    • Hang unpainted parts on hooks.
    • Paint parts using handheld paint sprayer.
    • Check temperature of parts.
    • Unload finished parts from conveyor line.
    • Place finished parts on or in storage containers.
    • Document actions by completing production and quality forms.

Requirements:

  • Lifting/carrying an average of 50 pounds.
  • Standing for greater than 6 hours per day.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperature conditions.
  • Ability to work around machinery.
  • Ability to use hand tools and perform repetitive work.
  • Manufacturing experience is considered an asset.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including earplugs, safety glasses, metatarsal boots, and guarded boots.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintain supplies inventory by checking stock levels and ordering supplies as needed.
