Position Summary: Under the guidance of the Program Manager for Children & Youth Services, the Program Leader II is tasked with delivering services and support to individuals with disabilities. This role encompasses a range of responsibilities including the planning and facilitation of growth-oriented activities, direct engagement with individuals to promote participation, and ensuring the physical comfort and well-being of those served. The Program Leader II may also play a role in training and orienting new staff, interns, and volunteers as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Service Delivery:
- Provide guidance, support, and oversight to individuals in various activities and settings.
- Employ effective teaching strategies tailored to the needs of individuals served.
- Ensure the safety of individuals by adhering to safety protocols in both facility and community settings.
- Assist individuals with daily living skills such as eating, personal hygiene, and dressing.
- Offer physical assistance, including mobility support and guidance as necessary.
- Deliver comprehensive service delivery as required.
Program Coordination:
- Develop and implement Individual Service Plans, goals, and objectives based on the unique needs and interests of individuals.
- Plan, facilitate, and evaluate a variety of activities including social, vocational, and recreational programs in alignment with individual service plans.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate individual abilities and interests.
- Ensure necessary supplies are prepared for activities, including setup and cleanup.
- Collaborate with team members to utilize community and center resources effectively.
- Assist with the planning and execution of daily, weekly, and monthly programming.
- Provide additional program coordination support as needed.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records and reports as per departmental procedures, including communication regarding individual progress and concerns.
- Work collaboratively within a team to fulfill the mission of the organization, fostering positive relationships with individuals served, caregivers, and community partners.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Support the training of new staff, interns, or volunteers as needed.
- Perform other assigned duties as required.
Qualifications: Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are required:
- Associate of Arts degree or higher preferred.
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Additional qualifications mandated by the State of California include:
- Possession of an appropriate teacher permit.
OR
- Completion of specified coursework in relevant fields with documented experience working with children with disabilities.
OR
- Possession of a California Special Education Credential.
Further Requirements:
- One year of relevant experience working with individuals with disabilities.
- Four years of general paid work experience or a combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act and related laws is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities and communicate sensitively with individuals of varying abilities.
- Capability to work independently and follow directions on assigned tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
- Bilingual skills are preferred.
- Criminal Record Clearance is required.
