Job Title: Juvenile Detention Specialist

Washoe County is seeking a skilled and compassionate Juvenile Detention Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Juvenile Services department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of juveniles in our care.

Job Summary:

Under the direction of our experienced team, you will be responsible for the direct observation, supervision, guidance, and general custodial care of juveniles in residence in a secure detention facility. Your duties will include:

  • Providing a safe and supportive environment for juveniles
  • Monitoring and reporting on juvenile behavior and activities
  • Assisting with daily living tasks and providing guidance on life skills
  • Collaborating with other staff members to ensure effective communication and teamwork
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in Behavioral Sciences, Criminal Justice, Human Services, Social Work, or a closely related field
  • 1000 hours of on-call services as a Juvenile Detention Specialist (On Call) or equivalent combination of related education and qualifying experience
  • A valid driver's license and CPR/First Aid certification
  • Ability to work all shifts, including days, swing, and graveyard shifts
