About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health. As a key member of our care team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals in our care, providing a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes their physical, emotional, and social needs.
  • Supervise and assist individuals in developing daily living skills, such as food preparation, cooking, cleaning, and shopping, to promote independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Plan and implement programs that meet the social, emotional, physical, and personal needs of individuals, including community-based jobs, volunteer opportunities, and outings.
  • Schedule and transport individuals to and from our day program, ensuring timely and safe transportation.

Requirements
  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Have a minimum of a High School Diploma/GED.
  • Have a valid driver's license.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred, but not required.
  • Be empathetic and have a team approach to care for our individuals.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be energetic, creative, and have a sense of humor.
  • Be able to attend ten days of paid in-house orientation on weekdays.
  • Be able to lift up to 50+ pounds and perform Safe and Positive Approaches.
  • Have a high level of comfort with hands-on hygiene care, including diapering and showering.
