Job Title: Assistant Controller

The Assistant Controller plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting at Car Spa. This position oversees the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department, responsible for producing periodic, quarterly, and annual financial statements that meet GAAP standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accounting and review of period financials for multiple locations
  • Preparation of financial statements to summarize and forecast the company's financial status
  • Production and management of balance sheets and analysis of future earnings and expenses
  • Staff management, including hiring, training, and development, as well as corrective action when necessary
  • Compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements, including research and consultation with outside advisors
  • Preparation of reports according to applicable government regulations
  • Coordination with CFO and upper management for financial reporting and analysis
Accountabilities:
  • Staying up-to-date on information and technology affecting the functional area to increase innovation and ensure compliance
  • Effective management of budget and expenses
  • Assistance with management of accounting, auditing, and budgeting within the organization
  • Use of accounting software to maintain records and prepare reports
  • Reconciliation of accounting inaccuracies or imbalances
Consulted:
  • Protection of assets through internal controls
  • Guidance of financial decisions through policies and procedures
  • Contribution to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed
  • Assistance with audit preparations
Informed:
  • Delegation of accounting tasks to junior accounting staff
Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and supervisory skills
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment
  • Skilled in time management and prioritization
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and applicable regulations
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • 10 years of accounting experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP Accounting Software
