Position Overview

MedTrans, the dedicated transportation division of Medline, is seeking a skilled Shuttle Driver to facilitate the movement of trailers and containers within our operational yard. Our fleet is composed of over 1,700 modern vehicles, ensuring efficient delivery of essential medical supplies across the nation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely maneuver a yard tractor to shuttle trailers and containers in designated areas, navigating tight spaces and uneven terrain.
  • Maintain accurate logs in compliance with Federal and State regulations, as well as company policies.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the vehicle to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Verify the functionality of all safety features and equipment associated with the vehicle during operations.
  • Refuel the vehicle as necessary to maintain operational readiness.
  • Communicate effectively via radio for operational coordination.
  • Perform daily inventory checks of trailers and maintain an organized yard environment.
  • Prepare empty trailers for loading and manage the staging of loaded trailers in designated drop areas.
  • Affix packing lists and seals on trailers as directed by the shipping coordinator.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in tractor-trailer or commercial driving is required.
  • Preferred experience includes 2 years in a yard hostler role.
  • Must possess a valid license to operate the assigned vehicle.
  • Compliance with all Federal and State regulations governing commercial motor vehicle operation is essential.
  • A clean driving record with no serious violations is mandatory.
  • Availability to work at least 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, with potential for overtime as business needs dictate.
  • A professional appearance for both the driver and the vehicle is expected.
  • Exceptional driving skills, particularly in backing up trailers, are required.

Compensation:

The anticipated hourly wage for this position is $35.75. This figure is an estimate and may vary based on the candidate's location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role may also be eligible for bonuses and incentives.

Our comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance, life and disability coverage, 401(k) contributions, and paid time off for employees working 30 or more hours per week. For those working fewer hours, benefits include 401(k) contributions and access to various employee support programs.
