Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
  • Direct and evaluate departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
  • Direct a variety of personnel actions; staff selection (interviewing and hiring), provides orientation, prepares performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Prepare, monitor, and evaluate departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.

Requirements
  • Graduate of a Program in Nursing required. Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including week-ends and holidays to insure appropriateness and continuity of care for the patients of Sovah Health Danville.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association preferred.
  • Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Virginia State Board of Nursing or Compact State required.
  • Five (5) years' experience in surgical specialty setting required. Three (3) years' experience as a full-time perioperative supervisory/management role required.
