We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced academic researcher to join our team as an Assistant Professor of Nutrition and Food Sciences at the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to our understanding of the microbiome's role in maintaining health and preventing chronic disease.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and conduct high-impact research in the area of microbiome and health, with a focus on understanding how changes in the microbiome due to diet, lifestyle, environmental exposure, or age affect health and chronic disease.
- Teach two courses per year, with additional teaching responsibilities as needed, to undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Nutrition and Food Sciences.
- Recruit and mentor students, and develop and effectively teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of nutrition, food science, and microbiology.
- Develop and conduct extramurally funded research, and contribute to the development of the School of Nutrition and Food Sciences' research focus.
The School of Nutrition and Food Sciences at Louisiana State University is a dynamic and growing department with a strong research focus. We offer undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Nutrition and Food Sciences, with areas of concentration in Dietetics, Nutritional Sciences, Food Science and Technology, and Molecular Nutrition.

Qualifications- A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Nutrition, Food Science, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, or closely related fields with expertise in core areas as identified above is required.
- Post-doctoral experience is preferred with a scholarly emphasis on the microbiome.
- Evidence of research excellence, the ability to develop and conduct extramurally funded research, and the ability to develop and effectively teach undergraduate and graduate courses and recruit and mentor students is desirable.
