Job Summary

This position is located in the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response, National Disaster Medical System headquartered in Washington, District of Columbia. The selected candidate will serve as a Deputy Team Commander, Logistics Management Specialist under the administrative supervision of the Team Commander for the Logistics Intermittent Cadre.

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent will assist in planning and directing an intermittent/reserve team of logistics professionals in a deployed field environment to sustain medical providers and ancillary operations over the course of multiple operational periods. Additionally, the candidate will support oversight of team readiness (administration, finance, training, medical fitness) during steady state in support of the predictable readiness model/rotation schedule.

Requirements

To qualify for this position, the candidate must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lowest grade, GS-13, performing two (2) of the four (4) duties below. The duties include assisting in planning and directing an intermittent/reserve team of logistics professionals, supporting oversight of team readiness, conducting developmental counseling with subordinates, and providing expertise in one or more areas, general logistics, medical logistics, or sustainment functions.

Working Conditions

The work is primarily related to readiness for and deployment for response during the aftermath of a disaster or public health emergency, where work may be field based, in a tent environment that is remote and austere, caring for sick, injured, dying, or deceased persons. The incumbent must be capable of working in a high-stress, high-security, remote, austere, and uncharacterized environment, void of infrastructure and vital services, requiring specific physical demands, such as the ability to lift 50 pounds, and work characteristics that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
