Job Title: Special Education Teacher

At Turning Pointe Autism Foundation, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing programs that address the unique needs of our students.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Special Education Teacher who can provide individualized instruction and support to students with autism and other developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Applied Behavior Analysis and experience working with students with complex needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that meet the unique needs of each student
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students in the classroom and in small group settings
  • Collaborate with the Related Service Team to ensure consistent programming and generalization of skills
  • Meet regularly with Turning Pointe administration and Lead Teacher to develop and implement TPAF Curriculum
  • Participate in teacher trainings and professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education
  • Help plan and participate in extracurricular student and staff activities
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress and behavior
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement or approval
  • Experience working with students with autism and other developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis and experience implementing behavior support plans
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Physical Demands:
  • May include lifting and supporting up to 50 pounds
  • May be required to bend, stoop, and kneel
  • Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations
  • Ability to stand and circulate for extended periods of time
  • Moderate to high stress levels
