Staff Accountant Job Description

Vaco is seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our team in Wilmington, MA. As a key member of our accounting team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately post General Ledger journal entries in accordance with reporting requirements
  • Report daily cash transactions and prepare weekly cash reports
  • Apply professional skepticism to all financial transactions
  • Prepare and/or review miscellaneous payments in online banking system
  • Perform regular balance sheet line item and bank reconciliations
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close, internal and external audit requests, and other ad hoc projects as required

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years' of previous experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Previous office experience
  • CPA desirable but not required
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills; thorough knowledge of accounting principles
  • Experience with expense forecasting preferred
  • SEC reporting and SOX experience preferred
  • Good knowledge of GAAP and financial statements
  • Independently motivated, detail-oriented and good problem-solving ability
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and multitask

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field required
