Position Summary: We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support our healthcare team on either a full-time or part-time basis. This role may involve evening shifts until 8:00 PM, with compensation based on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Preparation: Ensure examination rooms are ready with necessary instruments and supplies. Verify patient details, review medical histories, and record vital signs.
- Assisting Healthcare Providers: Aid providers in delivering patient care, including preparing lab specimens, administering medications, and conducting basic lab tests.
- Patient Education: Inform patients about medications and dietary guidelines, addressing their inquiries to ensure comprehension of their healthcare plans.
- Record Maintenance: Accurately document patient examinations, treatments, and test results to maintain comprehensive medical records.
- Billing and Referrals: Manage billing processes, insurance documentation, and referrals to specialists, facilitating a seamless experience for patients.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain supply levels, placing orders and confirming receipt as necessary.
- Equipment Oversight: Ensure medical equipment is well-maintained, conducting preventive maintenance and coordinating repairs as needed.
- Confidentiality Assurance: Protect patient information, maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding operational integrity.
- Continuous Learning: Engage in ongoing education to stay current with industry developments through professional publications and organizations.
- Effective Communication: Communicate professionally with patients, colleagues, and providers.
- Patient Rooming: Demonstrate proficiency in rooming patients, measuring vital signs, obtaining medical histories, and documenting information in the EMR system.
- Procedure Support: Assist healthcare providers during various medical procedures, including minor surgeries and specialized examinations.
- Problem-Solving: Exhibit strong analytical skills in a clinical environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Program
- Current/active CMA, CCMA, or RMA certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
- Preferred: 1+ years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting
- Preferred: Familiarity with Athena or another Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and telephone skills
