Are you looking for a career that makes a difference in the lives of others? Do you have a passion for ensuring the health and safety of individuals in long-term care facilities? We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and detail-oriented Inspector to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services.
Job Summary:
As an Inspector, you will be responsible for conducting on-site inspections, complaint and incident investigations, and comprehensive surveys to determine provider compliance with federal and state health and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct on-site inspections, complaint and incident investigations, and comprehensive surveys to determine provider compliance with federal and state health and safety regulations.
- Work closely with providers to ensure they meet the necessary standards.
- Communicate clearly and accurately with others to provide, exchange, or verify information, answer inquiries, or resolve issues or complaints.
- Re-visit residential sites and provider locations to verify correction of previously cited regulatory violations.
- Perform quality assurance reviews of documents prepared by others.
Requirements:

- Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Ability to use the computer for writing reports.
- Knowledge of acceptable professional standards of care.
- Ability to interpret complex regulatory policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Ability to exercise professional judgment and reach sound decisions in sometimes stressful situations.
What We Offer:
We offer a competitive starting salary, excellent state benefits, including health insurance and retirement, and the opportunity to regularly travel to different program providers within a region and across the state. In this front-line field position, you will be mobile and flexible, performing minimal work at an office, though the role does require writing reports detailing deficiencies/violations against a provider, remedies to correct those deficiencies, and narrative to support regulatory determinations.
Why Work with Us:
The state of Texas offers many benefits to employees, including the Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program, which forgives the remaining balance on college student Direct Loans after making qualifying monthly payments. We also offer excellent health benefits, a lifetime monthly retirement annuity, as well as (k) and Programs under the Employees Retirement System of Texas.
