The Research and Portfolio Management Analyst will play a pivotal role in establishing a data-driven foundation to support the execution of a strategic campaign aligned with the Naval Academy's long-term objectives. This position will collaborate closely with the Foundation's team to enhance development program efficiency and fundraising initiatives. Additionally, the analyst will work alongside various departments to bolster engagement efforts.
This role is part of a dynamic team committed to advancing our mission while fostering individual and collective growth. Team members collaborate to strategically address challenges and identify opportunities for improvement. The analyst will report to the Director of Research and Portfolio Management and will work directly with development officers.
Key Responsibilities:
Portfolio Management:
- Assist in managing the Foundation's prospective donor tracking system, ensuring accurate assignments and maintaining comprehensive financial data.
- Develop and sustain a robust pool of prospective donors for future engagement in various giving categories.
- Regularly assess and recalibrate donor portfolios to optimize performance and prioritize key prospects.
- Monitor outreach efforts and effectiveness of development officers.
- Maintain updated lists of top prospective donors for leadership review.
- Serve as a resource on portfolio management within CRM systems.
Research:
- Conduct thorough research to identify and evaluate prospective donors.
- Prepare detailed research reports for senior staff and leadership.
- Provide concise research summaries for events and special requests.
- Ensure the accuracy and relevance of research provided to leadership and gift officers.
- Collaborate with the Campaign Operations team to develop research materials for events and meetings.
Additional Duties:
- Support the Research and Portfolio Management team with various tasks as needed.
Qualifications:

- Demonstrate exceptional communication and project management abilities.
- Show dedication to personal and professional development, with a willingness to learn.
- Hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Adhere to professional standards in prospect research.
- Have 1 to 3 years of experience in research or data analysis, preferably in nonprofit or educational settings.
- Be proficient in data analysis and donor prospecting methodologies.
- Have strong skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
