Job Description

Magnet Medical is seeking a travel Diagnostic Imaging Specialist for a 13-week assignment in Virginia.

About the Job
  • Shift: 12 hours, nights
  • Hours per Week: 36.0 hours
  • Duration: 13 weeks

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 (based on industry standards and location)

ResponsibilitiesPatient Preparation and Communication
  1. Prepare patients for CT scans: Explain the procedure, answer questions, and ensure comfort.
  2. Verify patient information: Confirm medical history, allergies, and prior imaging to ensure accurate diagnosis and protocols.
  3. Position patients properly: Ensure safety and comfort throughout the process.
  4. Instruct patients: Guide them on holding their breath or remaining still during scans.
Operation of CT Equipment
  1. Operate and calibrate the CT scanner: Ensure proper settings for each scan.
  2. Administer contrast agents: Under physician guidance, inject dye to enhance image clarity.
  3. Monitor equipment: Ensure high-quality images and no errors during the process.
Image Quality and Review
  1. Review images for quality: Ensure all required areas are captured and meet diagnostic standards.
  2. Work with radiologists: Collaborate to ensure images support diagnosis.
  3. Repeat or adjust scans: Improve image quality or ensure comprehensive coverage.
Patient Safety and Comfort
  1. Minimize radiation exposure: Use lowest possible dose and shielding as necessary.
  2. Maintain a safe environment: Sanitize equipment between patients and prevent risk of injury or discomfort.
  3. Monitor patients: Alert physicians if adverse reactions occur.
Collaboration and Communication
  1. Work with healthcare professionals: Determine imaging procedures and assist in diagnosing conditions.
  2. Document patient information: Record parameters, media used, and complications.
  3. Participate in patient care planning: Discuss complex cases with the team.
Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting
  1. Maintain and clean equipment: Perform basic troubleshooting and inspections.
  2. Alert maintenance staff: Report malfunctioning or unsafe equipment.
  3. Keep logs: Accurately document equipment use and maintenance.
Radiation Safety and Compliance
  1. Follow radiation safety protocols: Protect patients and staff.
  2. Ensure compliance: Adhere to healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and Joint Commission guidelines.
  3. Stay updated: Follow changes to regulatory standards.
