Job Overview

POSITION: FORKLIFT CLAMP OPERATOR

SHIFT: 3rd SHIFT

Location: Pratt Specialty Sheets - PSS

SUMMARY

The Forklift Clamp Operator is accountable for all tasks related to the safe operation and maintenance of the clamp truck.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Safely operate the clamp truck, ensuring proper qualifications for forklift operation.
  • Conduct a clamp truck inspection at the start of each shift and submit maintenance requests for any required repairs.
  • Understand and interpret corrugator lineups, adhering to the daily production plan while suggesting improvements to meet cost, quality, delivery, and service objectives.
  • Transport rolls of paper to the corrugator, prioritizing buttrolls, and accurately document all rolls moved using the appropriate forms. Label buttrolls with size, diameter, lineal footage, and grade before returning them to inventory.
  • Unload rolls from trailers and rail cars, inspecting for any physical damage.
  • Maintain an organized and clean warehouse environment.
  • Submit roll stock tallies to the corrugator supervisor.
  • Assist the corrugator operator as directed by management.
  • Monitor viscosities at the corrugator and starch station as needed.
  • Accurately complete the daily starch checklist.
  • Keep track of inventory levels for starch and chemicals.
  • Familiarize oneself with relevant MSDS and understand proper procedures for responding to chemical spills or skin contact.
  • Support the training of wet end and dry end personnel on the doublebacker.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety protocols, while maintaining a clean workspace. Additional tasks may be assigned by management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A strong eagerness to learn and develop in a dynamic environment.
  • Preference given to candidates with prior forklift operation experience.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
  • Job Type: Full-Time.
  • Work Schedule: 3rd shift, 10+ hour shifts, Monday through Friday and alternating weekends.
