Position Overview
Colusa County is actively seeking qualified candidates to fill vacancies for the position of Law Enforcement Officer. This role encompasses a wide array of responsibilities typical of a patrol officer, aimed at addressing various law enforcement situations. Key duties include ensuring public safety, enforcing laws and regulations, conducting investigations, preparing detailed reports, engaging in crime prevention initiatives, and providing assistance to the community. Officers may be assigned to specific geographic areas for patrol, investigations, or other law enforcement-related functions.

Selection Process
The selection process includes several steps:

Compensation and Benefits
In addition to the base salary, candidates may receive up to 10% in additional compensation for P.O.S.T. and Educational Incentives:
- 2.5% for Intermediate POST Certificate
- 5.0% for Advanced POST Certificate
- 2.5% for an Associate's Degree (AA/AS)
- 5% for a Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS)

Qualifications
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the necessary qualifications includes:
Experience:
One year of law enforcement experience is preferred.
Training:
Completion of the twelfth grade or equivalent.
Current enrollment in or completion of a California P.O.S.T. Basic Academy, or possession of a Basic Certificate for lateral applicants.
License or Certificate:
Possession of a valid driver's license.
Other Requirements:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Additional Information
The salary range consists of 15 steps, with annual merit increases based on performance. The final salary will depend on the applicant's experience and qualifications.
