Athletic Trainer Assistant

The Sports Medicine Department at Northwestern State University, a proud member of NCAA Division I and the Southland Conference, is seeking applications for the role of Assistant Athletic Trainer within its intercollegiate athletic program. The primary responsibilities will involve supporting Men's Basketball and may extend to additional tasks during the off-season.

Key Responsibilities

• Assigned Sport Duties: Ensure comprehensive coverage for all games and practices, manage the treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries, and maintain accurate documentation including injury reports and medical histories.
• General Athletic Trainer Responsibilities: Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in the daily management of the athletic training facility, supervise student interns, and provide treatment to athletes as necessary.
• Administrative Functions: Oversee physician visits within the athletic training room, coordinate athlete notifications regarding appointments, assist during physician evaluations, and communicate outcomes to the Sports Medicine team and coaching staff.

Minimum Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
• Candidates must hold current certification as an Athletic Trainer from the BOC.
• State licensure from the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners is required prior to the start date.
• Experience in a collegiate setting is preferred.
