Position OverviewThe Cytopathology Technician plays a crucial role in the diagnostic process, focusing on the identification and analysis of cellular samples to detect potential health issues.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough microscopic examinations of gynecological and non-gynecological specimens.
- Assist pathologists in performing fine needle aspirates and provide support during diagnostic procedures.
- Utilize cytologic criteria to differentiate and diagnose cellular abnormalities.
- Prepare provisional diagnoses and ensure accurate specimen identification throughout the examination process.
- Communicate effectively regarding specimen collection and transport requirements.
- Maintain meticulous records and manage data retrieval in daily operations.
- Perform accessioning, routine staining, and coverslipping of slides as part of the workflow.
- Exercise critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address quality control issues.
Candidates must meet the educational and experiential standards set forth by CLIA for Cytotechnologists. Additionally, those obtaining certification after a specified date must demonstrate ongoing maintenance of their credentials.
