Position Overview:

As a Certified Surgical Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting surgical teams during procedures. Your responsibilities will include maintaining a sterile environment, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols, and managing surgical instruments and supplies. A collaborative mindset and experience in a dynamic setting are essential. Certification in CPR and prior operating room experience are mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and organize surgical instruments and equipment for various procedures.
  • Set up the operating room by establishing a sterile field with necessary supplies.
  • Adhere to state and federal regulations while providing patient care.
  • Conduct pre-operative preparations on patients.
  • Perform safety checks on equipment and supplies before procedures.
  • Assemble and verify the functionality of both sterile and non-sterile equipment.
  • Assist in patient preparation for surgical procedures.
  • Transport patients to and from the procedure room as needed.
  • Position patients appropriately on the surgical table.
  • Drape patients with sterile coverings as per procedure requirements.
  • Provide instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons during operations.
  • Assist with retraction, suturing, and other tasks under physician supervision.
  • Participate in the counting of sponges, needles, and instruments during procedures.
  • Prepare specimens and assist with their handling post-surgery.
  • Apply dressings and assist with patient transfers post-procedure.
  • Maintain cleanliness and restock the procedure room.
  • Prepare supplies and instruments for upcoming surgeries.
  • Support the maintenance of physician preference cards and inventory.
  • Assist in the decontamination, cleaning, and sterilization processes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program.
  • CST certification is required.
  • Preferred 1-2 years of clinical experience in an operating room.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support is mandatory.
Work Environment:

The role involves working in clean, well-lit, and ventilated settings. The position requires standing for extended periods and maintaining focus during surgical procedures. Exposure to communicable diseases and other challenging conditions may occur.
