Surgical Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse

Amergis is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). As a SICU Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process
- Perform focused interviews to identify specific patient needs
- Assess signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient's condition
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data and information from healthcare members and document actual and/or potential nursing diagnoses
- Plan for expected outcomes of care for assigned patients
- Closely observe patients for signs of side effects of anesthesia medication
- Treat pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia
- Communicate nursing interventions, expected outcomes, and time frames for expected completion to other members of the healthcare team
- Function as a resource to the healthcare team members in planning for patient discharge
- Document the patient's plan of care using identified nursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursing interventions
- Identify and prioritize actions based on patient care requirements
- Perform interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, and hospital policies and patient care outcome standards
- Provide a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment
- Initiate and evaluate patient and/or family education
- Compare expected and actual outcomes of care and identify deviations from the plan of care
- Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practices
- 2 years of SICU, PACU, or ICU experience preferred
- CPAN and CAPA certifications preferred
- ACLS may be required per state/contract
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
- Computer proficiency required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
