About the Role

Amergis is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). As a SICU Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process
  • Perform focused interviews to identify specific patient needs
  • Assess signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient's condition
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data and information from healthcare members and document actual and/or potential nursing diagnoses
  • Plan for expected outcomes of care for assigned patients
  • Closely observe patients for signs of side effects of anesthesia medication
  • Treat pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia
  • Communicate nursing interventions, expected outcomes, and time frames for expected completion to other members of the healthcare team
  • Function as a resource to the healthcare team members in planning for patient discharge
  • Document the patient's plan of care using identified nursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursing interventions
  • Identify and prioritize actions based on patient care requirements
  • Perform interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, and hospital policies and patient care outcome standards
  • Provide a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment
  • Initiate and evaluate patient and/or family education
  • Compare expected and actual outcomes of care and identify deviations from the plan of care
Requirements
  • Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practices
  • 2 years of SICU, PACU, or ICU experience preferred
  • CPAN and CAPA certifications preferred
  • ACLS may be required per state/contract
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
