Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Eye Care Assistant to join our team at Henry Ford Health System. As an Eye Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing administrative and clinical support to our ophthalmology department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and accurately record patient medical and ocular history, including chief complaint, medications, allergies, and review of systems.
  • Perform visual acuity testing, including pinhole acuity test, glare test, and potential acuity test.
  • Measure intraocular pressure using non-contact, digital, and/or Goldmann applanation tonometers.
  • Assist in patient education and compliance, including providing information on tests, results, and follow-up care.
  • Coordinate patient flow and appointments, and maintain accurate records and equipment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information with discretion.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a patient care environment with possible exposure to infectious diseases. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a team environment and provide excellent customer service to patients and families.
