Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. As a Radiologic Technologist, you will be responsible for performing medically prescribed radiographic procedures, maintaining supplies and cleanliness of space, and assisting in the completion of special projects and reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform radiographic procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, restocking supplies as needed.
  • Assist in the completion of special projects and reports, as assigned.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative and professional relationships with patients, physicians, nurses, and office and clinical staff.
  • Perform visual and manual quality control checks of X-ray equipment, including monitors used for routine dictation/reading of clinical images.
  • Recognize and respond to medical emergencies, notifying nurse, PA, and/or MD immediately.
  • Follow proper radiation safety procedures, using gonadal shielding on all patients whenever possible.
  • Perform transmission and/or segmentation for transmission to PACS in a complete and proper anatomic display.
  • Generate high-quality hard copies of images when necessary.
  • Follow special instructions indicated on radiographic requisition.
  • Implement patient procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards.
  • Provide patient education and support, ensuring patient comfort and understanding.
  • Use standard procedures to identify the correct patient, using two identifiers (full name and birth date).
  • Check patient wristband by name to ensure patient ID matches examination requisition.
  • Review patient requisition and understand the type of exam required by each requisition.
  • Consult policy and procedure manuals and/or other reference materials as necessary.
  • Follow isolation precautions as necessary.
  • Effectively assess patient information and status, following appropriate procedure(s) accordingly.
  • Access patient data for verification of orders, using HIS and RIS systems.
  • Maintain confidentiality on matters to which they are privileged.
Requirements
  • Certificate from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
  • New York State license or temporary permit to practice Diagnostic Radiology.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • College graduate.
