As a key member of our laboratory staff, you will be responsible for receiving, accessing, and preparing tissues, performing labeling, fixation, embedding, microtomy, staining, and cover-slipping, as well as implementing CLIA recommendations and following OSHA, Medical Waste, Infection Control, and Hazardous Communication protocols.

Responsibilities:

* Preparing and processing tissue samples for diagnostic purposes
* Performing labeling, fixation, embedding, microtomy, staining, and cover-slipping using automated equipment as necessary
* Implementing CLIA recommendations, including daily QA testing and proficiency testing
* Following OSHA, Medical Waste, Infection Control, and Hazardous Communication protocols, including necessary documentation
* Collaborating with Laboratory Director to maintain and update SOP's as necessary
* Assisting pathologists within scope of practice
* Monitoring supply inventory and assisting in ordering and stocking, properly documenting reagents and supply inventories while following laboratory inventory procedures
* Demonstrating competency operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining equipment, working with vendors as necessary

Requirements:

* Successful completion of an accredited Histotechnician or Histotechnologist program with certification obtained (HT or HTL certification from the ASCP)
* HS and 60 college/university semester hours, with a combination of 12 hrs biology and chemistry (must include both) AND one year full-time acceptable experience in a histopathology laboratory within the last 5 years including fixation, embedding, microtomy, processing, and staining
* Associate degree and successful completion of an accredited Histotechnician program
