POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT

The Solar Electrical Project Coordinators at Moss play a crucial role in coordinating, planning, and supporting Superintendents, contractors, and craft activities on our extensive utility solar projects. A positive attitude and professional demeanor are essential as you will engage with personnel at all levels in a dynamic environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the superior installation of electrical components of the project, including the underground electrical collection system.
  • Assist in overseeing drawings, constructability, submittal reviews, and feedback with the engineering team, ensuring that the quality of materials, equipment, and workmanship aligns with the specifications and updates of the contract documents.
  • Collaborate with the Electrical Superintendent and General Electrical Superintendent in the development of project schedules and updates, including the creation of a three-week look-ahead.
  • Guarantee that work teams have the necessary resources and support.
  • Support quality control of work teams, encompassing both self-performed and subcontracted work.
  • Manage and collaborate with relevant personnel regarding the connection of the power grid to the existing distribution system.
  • Provide supervisory support on the installation, splicing, and termination of fiber optic cables.
  • Participate in project meetings, serving as a liaison between field engineers and contractors or craft workers to ensure that electrical components of the project comply with drawings and specifications.
  • Review and monitor subcontractor procurement of electrical resources, methods, staffing, look-ahead schedules, and coordination with other site activities.
  • Work with engineering staff to ensure that plans, specifications, submittals, and RFIs are transmitted to subcontractors accurately and promptly.
  • Monitor safety, quality, and efficiency of subcontracted work on every project.
  • Coach, mentor, and train field personnel, forepersons, and assistant superintendents.
  • Certify that work teams have the necessary resources and support.
  • Generate various reports, including Sequence of Operation instructions for equipment use and energization of circuits, as well as written Methods of Operation (MOPs).
  • Establish and foster a teamwork-oriented environment.
  • Provide work direction and performance evaluations.
  • Identify hiring needs and participate in hiring, disciplinary, and dismissal decisions as necessary.
  • Develop leadership potential through appropriate task assignments and career growth opportunities.
  • Address open shop and union issues.
  • Maintain relationships with all visitors to the site, including customers, architects, union representatives, and subcontractors.
  • Efficiently manage site work and logistics, offering suggestions for improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience working with medium voltage equipment and cable, specifically in the installation of collection line construction.
  • Experience providing support on large self-perform projects.
  • Proficiency in the installation, testing, acceptance, maintenance, and repair of medium voltage cables.
  • Knowledgeable about current injection, Hi-pot, capacitance discharge, contact resistance, Megger, TTR, Doble, and other methods of cable and equipment testing.
  • Possess a working knowledge of electrical drawings, sketches, and prints, underground duct banks, trenching, manholes and vaults for distribution and collection systems, underground and pad mount transformer usage, SCADA systems used in the power industry, and testing and commissioning.
  • Current driver's license.
  • Willingness to travel extensively with rotations.
