Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Paving Operations Supervisor is tasked with ensuring the safe and effective management of paving activities while supervising the crew members involved in these operations.

Salary Range: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour (Dependent on experience and qualifications)

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Comply with all safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
  2. Oversee the paving crew to ensure completion of projects at various sites, adhering to job specifications.
  3. Facilitate clear and professional communication with crew members, clients, quality assurance personnel, contractors, and management.
  4. Perform physical tasks including standing for extended periods, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds as required.
  5. Ensure accurate and timely documentation of labor, materials, and other relevant items.
  6. Possess knowledge of machinery controls and safety features, operating equipment according to company policies and manuals.
  7. Assist project management in formulating and executing project plans and procedures to meet objectives.
  8. Collect and accurately input employee time sheets into the designated system.
  9. Promptly report any equipment damage, safety hazards, or incidents to the Construction Manager.
  10. Exhibit flexibility in scheduling, including early starts, extended hours, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

The incumbent must be able to work in moderate to loud noise levels, endure long hours standing and laboring outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat.

The physical demands outlined below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. The employee is frequently required to sit, use hands, reach, handle, talk, see, and listen. Occasionally, the employee may need to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend, twist, kneel, and crouch.

Position Qualifications:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with five years of experience in the paving industry, preferably in a supervisory role. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential. Proficiency in computer usage and familiarity with Microsoft Office is necessary. Knowledge of DOT regulations and the ability to interpret MSDS sheets is required. Candidates should possess strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Travel may be required, and passing a physical and drug screening is mandatory.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Oversee all hourly employees within the paving operations, focusing on work schedules, safety, and productivity.

Independent Action:

Work independently within established guidelines and practices.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. A valid driver's license is required, and a CDL license is preferred.
